I am preparing for my 5th Avon Walk which wil occur in May 2015.
In May 2014 I first learned of Avon partnering with Pfizer in regards to metastic breast cancer, the cancer that took our mom from us in Jan 2014.
My 2014 walk was, for obvious reasons, so much more emotional because mom wasn't there. I know she was there in spirit thou because of the butterfies I saw along the route (and I don't mean living butterflies but the butterflies on the umbrella someone was holding at opening ceremonies b/c it was pouring rain and the gorgeous butterfly mural I saw on a wall along the route).
I did not complete the full walk in 2014, of all my walks it was the shortest distance I had covered. I am determined to complete the full 39.3 miles in May 2015, I may be behind in my training but I am getting ready to start a new bootcamp that will help me train. I am selling mom's craft items on etsy under the shop name SavetheBooBees, I'm donating all of this money to Avon. (to be clear...the money I make on etsy is not going to me, dad or our family but to the Avon Foundation)
I am also selling items on ebay under the name Hwsflanker.
The following is standard from Avon:
Thanks for visiting my Avon Walk page! I've committed to participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. It's a big commitment, one that will require me to spend the next several months training and fundraising. But breast cancer is a big disease, one that still affects far too many people, and I'm determined to do everything I can to help put an end to it.
The money I raise will be managed and disbursed by the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade to help provide access to care for those who most need it, fund educational programs, and accelerate research into new treatments and potential cures. I'll be just one of thousands of people who will walk up to 39.3 miles over two days, raising awareness promoting education.
I can't do it without your help. Though I'm required to raise at least $1,800 to walk in the event, I plan to raise much more! I hope that I can count on your support.
You can make a donation right here on the website by clicking the "Donate Now" button on this page. If you prefer to write a check, please contact me, and I'll send you the information and form.
As I prepare for this exciting event, I plan to update this page frequently so that all my supporters like you can follow my progress, so please visit often. While you're here, you might want to spend some time on the site to find out more information on why this event is so important, and the organizations and people that will be helped by the money we all raise.
Thank you in advance.
