Thanks for visiting my Avon Walk page. I've committed to participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. It's a big commitment, one that will require me to spend the next several months training and fundraising. But breast cancer is a big disease, one that still affects far too many people, and I'm determined to do everything I can to help put an end to it.
My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer a few years ago. Because of that, I am at a much higher risk than other woman of getting breast cancer. Since cancer of all sorts was already common in my family even before my mom got breast cancer, I've decided to focus my charity giving and efforts to breast cancer. I saw what my mom and several other family members went through, and I hope that I never have to go through that myself.
After experiencing this powerful two-day walk in 2010 in San Francisco, I instantly signed up to walk again in 2011. Once again, the walk in NYC inspired me to sign up to walk in 2012. Last year, I walked in my hometown of Boston in May. To continue my quest to walk all eight cities, I originally signed up to walk Charlotte in 2012. However, due to a move to the Midwest and some other personal factors, I deferred that walk to 2013. I also completed the Washington DC walk in May of 2013. In the past four years, I have been able to raise nearly $10,000 for the Avon Foundation. I couldn't have done it without the generous support of my friends and family.
The money I raise will be managed and disbursed by the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade to help provide access to care for those that most need it, fund educational programs, and accelerate research into new treatments and potential cures. I'll be just one of thousands of people that will walk up to a marathon and a half over a weekend, raising awareness of the cause and educating even more people.
I hope that I can count on your support.
You can make a donation to my fundraising campaign right here on the website by clicking on the pink "Donate Now" button. If you prefer to write a check, just contact me and I'll send you the information and form.
Thank you in advance.
