This year, there are five us walking as a team in the Washington walk in May. Some of us have walked before and some of us are new this year, and the goal is the same: to raise money and awareness for treatment and prevention of not just breast cancer but all cancer. The main goal is the same but our personal reasons are much different. Training together for the walk, fund-raising, and during the event, we will each have the opportunity to share why this walk is important to us individually. Those of us who have walked know not only how difficult walking 40 miles is, but how inspirational it is as well. There is nothing like being emotionally and physically exhausted, limping, ready to give up, and looking up from the curb to see a beautiful woman with the beginnings of new hair growth and a survivor shirt; breezing right on by like 40 miles is nothing. Because to some walkers, it really is the beginning of a new journey.

The Avon Breast Cancer walk is humbling, yet at the same time, it gives each of us a renewed strength. We can do anything. And as a team, we will help each other to prove just that.

 Each team member is required to raise at least $1,800 in donations. But because we're in this together, we know that, with your help, we can do it.
