2009: Avon Walk for Breast Cancer: Chicago

Team MIX

Whenever someone mentions the word "cancer" my heart skips a beat. I lost my father to cancer. Several other relatives and friends have survived or are currently fighting it, so my level of hope for finding a cure, more effective treatments and/or prevention is very high.

Agreeing to walk in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer was an easy decision. Of course I want to help. But I'm definitely not an athlete so not long after I made the commitment it dawned on me that I'm not physically ready for the long walk. Lucky for me, I happen to be married to the perfect guy to get me ready for this event. My husband, Bill Busch, has been in the health & fitness industry for decades. Besides his many certifications he is a Muscle Activation Techniques Specialist. He's not only offered to help me prepare but also share his expertise to anyone participating in the Avon Walk at http://www.wtmx.com/wtmx.php?pageid=avonwalk09 . Proper preparation is key to avoiding injury and will certainly make the walk a much more enjoyable experience.

I'm looking forward to making new friends and doing whatever I can to support the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. I'd love for you to join our team, but even if you can't walk in the event you can still help. Please donate. Every penny raised is well spent. You'll help medically under-insured women and men get the medical care they need and support in the ongoing search for a cure. See you in June!
