For my Sweet, Sweet Eva

This morning, watching my daughter sleep, my heart sat in my throat, and I wondered if there's anything in the world I can do to save her from harm. Her knees, I know, will get bloodied; her nose, sunburned; her heart, broken. It will all happen; it has to; it's an inevitable part of her growing up and coming into her own.

What shouldn't ever have to happen, however, is to let research--and a possible cure--for a life-threatening disease go by the wayside because I'm too busy wandering the city and imagining bloodied knees.

This year, in hopes of finding a cure for breast cancer in my daughter's lifetime, I've decided to join team "Safe at Second" and walk a marathon and a half over the course of a weekend to support the research, education and prevention of breast cancer.

We'll also be having several fund-raising events, including a very special reading of original fairy tales by four New York City-based writers. Details to come!

Thanks so much for your support. The bird (& I) are ever grateful.

Because a Cure shouldn't be a Fairytale...

You can make a donation to my fundraising campaign right here on the website by clicking on the pink "Donate Now" button. If you prefer to write a check, just contact me and I'll send you the information and form.

As I prepare for this exciting event, I plan to update this page frequently so that all my supporters can follow my progress, so please visit often. While you're here, you might want to spend some time on the site to find out more information on why this event is so important, and the organizations and people that will be helped by the money we all raise.

Thank you in advance.

Much love.
