If it can happen to me, it can happen to anyone....

Wow, where do I start? My journey began last August when a strange pain in my left breast motivated me go to the doctor. My doctor figured it was just a cyst but recommended further testing to be safe. The following week I had a mammogram and an ultrasound. Before I knew it I was consulting with a surgeon to get a biopsy. The biopsy revealed I had invasive ductal carcinoma - the most common type of breast cancer. A lumpectomy and 8 rounds of chemotherapy shortly followed. While gearing up for 6 weeks of radiation treatment and finally seeing that light at the end of the tunnel I noticed another area of pain in my left breast. Radiation was postponed and a PET scan revealed another cancerous tumor in the same general location as the last. I had a mastectomy April 23rd will be completing a combined radiation/chemotherapy treatment about a week before this walk. Needless to say it's been a crazy 10 months. Why am I telling you all this? Because my story could be anyone's story. I have no history of breast cancer in my immediate family, I'm under the age of 50, and in good health. Scary.

Despite all that has happened, I truly feel like I'm one of the lucky ones. I have wonderful, supportive family and friends, amazing doctors, and good insurance that have helped me every step of the way. There are many people out there who are not as fortunate. The money I raise will be managed and disbursed by the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade to help provide access to care for those that most need it, fund educational programs, and accelerate research into new treatments and potential cures. I’ll be just one of thousands of people that will walk up to a marathon and a half over a weekend, raising awareness of the cause and educating even more people.

I can’t do it without your help. Though I’m required to raise at least $1,800 in donation, I plan to raise much more!

I hope that I can count on your support.

You can make a donation to my fundraising campaign right here on the website by clicking on the pink "Donate Now" button. If you prefer to write a check, just contact me and I'll send you the information and form.

As I prepare for this exciting event, I plan to update this page frequently so that all my supporters can follow my progress, so please visit often. While you're here, you might want to spend some time on the site to find out more information on why this event is so important, and the organizations and people that will be helped by the money we all raise.

Thank you in advance.
