My Goal!

Thanks for visiting my Avon Walk page. I’ve committed to participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. It’s a big commitment, one that will require me to spend the next several months training and fundraising. But breast cancer is a big disease, one that still affects far too many people, and I’m determined to do everything I can to help put an end to it. The money I raise will be managed and disbursed by the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade to help provide access to care for those that most need it, fund educational programs, and accelerate research into new treatments and potential cures. I’ll be just one of thousands of people that will walk up to a marathon and a half over a weekend, raising awareness of the cause and educating even more people.

I decided to do this walk with my sister and some friends in memory of our grandmother, Lillian Duncan, who was a survivor, but was taken by pneumonia a few years later! We miss her.

I can’t do it without your help. Though I’m required to raise at least $1,800 in donation, I plan to raise much more!

I hope that I can count on your support.

I put together a group of women from our area to do Christmas caroling this year. I"m calling our group Pink Scarf Carolers for a Cure. I will let you know how we do!

While you're here, you might want to spend some time on the site to find out more information on why this event is so important, and the organizations and people that will be helped by the money we all raise.

Thank you in advance.

MY PROGRESS

UPDATE ON CAROLING-Dec. 14, 2008
I would like to thank my singers: Martha, Danni, Lori, Erika, Shyla and her friend,
Samantha. I would also like to thank the residents of Mercer, PA who donated to us. And Walts Golden Dawn for donating cookies, and Pizza Joes for donating drinks for us after caroling. We raised $66 while having a great time! Thanks so much!

FEBRUARY 2009
We are now selling 50/50 raffle tickets. If we sell them all, we'll be able to payout $2500 to the winner. Won't that be nice!

I am now selling raffle tickets for a basket of autographed items by the pittsburgh steelers, and items from the pittsburgh passion womens football team. They are $2.00 each and there are 12 autographs in the basket.

We are still selling the 50/50 raffle tickets.

My sister, Deb, and I entered a 1/2 marathon walk today at North Park, near Mars, PA. It was my first. My goals were to MAKE it the whole 13.1 miles, not to be LAST, and make it in under 4 hours. Good news. I MADE it the whole way, in 3 hours and 36 minutes. My YOUNGER sister made it in 3 hours and 26 minutes. YAY US!

Thanks to all those who've donated so far!

Thanks to my employees at Dollar Tree and all my helpers who sold raffle tickets for the Passions/Steelers basket. We raised $220. THANKS AGAIN, and congrats to Tom!
