One more time !
I'm getting ready for my 4th walk. On the weekend of October 10 & 11, I will again be walking 39.3 miles around New York City.
People ask me why I walk, and raise money, and am so involved with the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. To understand, watch this short video (http://bit.ly/aVrtK) I made and look at the pictures of the youth crew members in their bright yellow sweatshirts. The tears they shed are for mothers who have died from breast cancer. One of them said at the evening activity at the Boston walk, she wishes she could have a hug from her mother.
If you’ve never personally known anyone touched by breast cancer you are very fortunate. A staggering 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will develop breast cancer. Think of 8 women in your life. Which one will be affected? Your best friend? Your mom? Your daughter? Maybe even yourself? Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death for women right now, and the leading cause of death in women between the ages of 40 and 55. Every woman is at risk, because we don’t know to prevent it.
I'm going to need support from many people to reach my goal, and I'm hoping that I can count on you to be part of my support team.
How can you help ?
