My Story....My Mission....
Thanks for visiting my Avon Walk page. I was diagnosed with breast cancer two days before Christmas. I'm a 37 year old mother with two beautiful little boys and the best husband and family in the world. My family never imagined this journey we are on but we know we can handle it and we are committed to finding a way for others to never experience this journey as well.
I’m committed to participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer because I look forward to the day when we never have to walk or worry or spend one more minute crying over breast cancer. I believe that day is possible and near!
The Avon walk is a big commitment, one that will require me to spend the next several months training and fundraising but I am looking forward to paralleling this experience with my fight to become cancer free. The money I raise will be managed and disbursed by the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade to help provide access to care for those that most need it, fund educational programs, and accelerate research into new treatments and potential cures. I’ll be just one of thousands of people that will walk up to a marathon and a half over a weekend, raising awareness of the cause and educating even more people.
I can’t do it without your help. Though I’m required to raise at least $1,800 in donation, I plan to raise much more!
I hope that I can count on your support.
My Goal....
You can make a donation to my fundraising campaign right here on the website by clicking on the pink "Donate Now" button. If you prefer to write a check, just contact me and I'll send you the information and form.
As I prepare for this exciting event, I plan to update this page frequently so that all my supporters can follow my progress, so please visit often. While you're here, you might want to spend some time on the site to find out more information on why this event is so important, and the organizations and people that will be helped by the money we all raise.
Thank you in advance.

How I found My Cancer....
Since being diagnosed many people ask me how I knew, how I found it. It's quite simple...I found my tumor myself. After getting out of the shower one morning I was drying off and by some stroke of luck I just happened to feel a bump. I'm embarrassed to admit I had never actually done a "real" self exam EVER. When the subject would come up on a tv show I would do a quick feel around and say, "looking good to me" because I never, ever thought in a million years I would get breast cancer. Six months before my diagnosis I had both a physical exam and OB exam which included breast exams and both came back without a problem. I asked both doctors if I should get a mammogram and both said I was too young. I'm definitely not telling this story to blame the doctors. I don't believe the tumor was there then. My point is breast cancer can grow quickly and you must do self breast exams! You have to be your own best advocate and you have to get to a doctor immediately if you feel anything out of the ordinary. Ladies of all ages, feel your boobies at least once a month! It's your best line of defense!

About the Avon Foundation
