Thanks for visiting my Avon Walk page. I’ve committed to participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer because, as you know, I have been fighting breast cancer for over a year now. It’s a big commitment, one that required me raise $1800 AND train to walk 40 miles in 2 days. But breast cancer is a disease happening all too frequently, one that still affects far too many people, and I’m determined to do everything I can to help put an end to it. The money I raised will be managed and disbursed by the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade to help provide access to care for those that most need it, fund educational programs, and accelerate research into new treatments and potential cures. I’ll be just one of thousands of people that will walk up to a marathon and a half over a weekend, raising awareness of the cause and educating even more people.

I will be walking with Rachael Betius, a 19 year old college student here in D.C. who walked in my honor when I could not walk during chemo therapy last spring. Her determination and resolve inspired me to take on this challenge along with her AND my son Curtis. Now that I have raised my funds I'd like any additional donations to go to Curtis or Rachael. You can view their personal Avon Walk pages at:

They can’t do it without your help. Just as fighting cancer is done step by step, so too, your contribution in any amount, will add up during these next 4 1/2 months to big successes! Donations can also be made in installments, so you can spread out your amount over several months making it very easy on your budget!

I hope that they can count on your support. Funds raised through walks like this have provided the research into the drugs that I have received and continue to receive. This drug targets the over expressed growth gene found in my type of breast cancer and in 25% of all breast cancers. It has only been made available to patients like me for the last 5 years and took hundreds of thousands of dollars in research and development before that. We need more advancements in the treatment of breast cancer so that women like me can continue to beat this disease.

I have begun my own personal physical training by joining a gym, and working out each day to gain strength and endurance. Won't you do your part in helping me accomplish my fund raising goal and donate today? It DOES make a difference. Because of fund raising like this, we can continue making breast cancer one of the most survivable cancers.

Please visit my son's page and help him reach his goal now that I have already reached mine!

You can make a donation to my son's fundraising campaign right on the website by visiting http://AvonWalk.org/GoTo/CurtisHutchison and clicking on the pink "Donate Now" button. If you prefer to write a check, just contact me and I'll send you the information and form.

As I prepare for this exciting event, I plan to update this page frequently so that all my supporters can follow my progress, so please visit often. While you're here, you might want to spend some time on the site to find out more information on why this event is so important, and the organizations and people that will be helped by the money we all raise.

Thank you in advance.
Be Blessed-
Koryn

A Day In The Life

Topics

100 days!
Just 100 days from now I will be walking 40 miles alongside thousands of other people in the fight to END breast cancer. I am overwhelmed with gratitude to those who donated to my own walk and I hope that if you have not given to this great cause, you might consider doing it today. It only takes a moment and any amount is not too small. Every penny goes to making a difference. If you didn't hear this in the news, I will tell you that California has already dropped their coverage of screenings provided to low income women under age 50 based on the recent contreversial task force recommendation to stop them for women between ages 40 and 50. My cancer was first discovered on a mammogram. If I had waited until I was 50,I would never have made it. I would have died. Many more women are diagnosed at even younger ages than 44, as I was. I believe we will begin to see more women dying from breast cancer if this service is not provided. Avon Foundation helps provide such screenings. Your donations go towards that fund. Please help today!
