Mary Jordan and her walk for breast cancer

Thanks for visiting my Avon Walk page. I’ve committed to participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer again this year. When I first started this event it was in memory of my mother that died of cancer. I have worked with many women that have survived this terrible disease and i am commited to helping raise money to put this disease to an end. Please help me raise my goal of $1,800.00
The monies stay in the DC area and are donated to our local cancer centers. if we all work together i am positive we can truly make a difference and maybe even help find a cure to end this this kind of cancer.

Please consider helping me raise money for breast cancer research

You can make a donation to my fundraising campaign right here on the website by clicking on the pink "Donate Now" button. If you prefer to write a check, just contact me and I'll send you the information and form.

As I prepare for this exciting event, I plan to update this page frequently so that all my supporters can follow my progress, so please visit often. While you're here, you might want to spend some time on the site to find out more information on why this event is so important, and the organizations and people that will be helped by the money we all raise.

Thank you in advance.

My Personal Journey preparing for the Avon Walk for Cancer 2010

training in the mud..
Completed 13 mile walk on Saturday from lake Elkhorn to Savage Mill and back.
We were blessed with gorgeous weather and lots of sunshine.
However, we ignored the signs that said construction up ahead. i guess we thought that was for other people, not us...
We ended up in the biggest muddiest mess you have ever seen! it went on for what felt like miles. The county had pulled up the nice pavement and left us with gooshy wet mud that sunk about 1/2 inch everywhere we stepped.
this part was not fun.
After getting past this hurdle, we made it to Savage mill, where we took a pitstop at a bakery! Tons of fun, quick rest and back to the park to complete our 13 mile journey.

Snow woes
Well Team Bra-La-La has begun their training walks. With all the snow still piled high, we have started off in the empty halls of columbia Mall before the shoppers appear. Saturday we completed 8 miles in about 2.5 hours. The training walks get longer as we get closer to the big day. Our team is at about 1/2 its goal, as am I.
Please consider helping out by making a small donation, any amount helps!
warm hugs,
Mary

Getting back in shape
Dear friends,
There are two challenges with commiting to a marathon. The first is obvious. Getting yourself in physical shape to be able to achieve the goal of 39 miles in two days. The second is raising the required amount to participate. I am doing my part by finding time to train and getting myself in good physical condition. I need your help with the second half. Please consider making a contribution to this worthwhile cause.
Big strides are being made in breast cancer research, and together we can make a difference.
