I Walk Because I Can

Thanks for visiting my Avon Walk page. I’ve committed to participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer for the second time. This time around I'm not only walking for my aunt who we lost in 1992 but for my friend Marleen, a survivor and my friend Sammie who is continuing her fight. It’s a big commitment, one that will require me to spend the next several months training and fundraising. I chose the Avon Walk because I like a challenge, and because they use the donated funds for so much more than just research. They help under served women find and get medical treatment, fund educational outlets, and fund research services. I’ll be just one of thousands that will walk up to a marathon and a half over a weekend. Some of those people have lost loved ones, some are fighting the battle as they walk, others are survivors. They are all incredibly brave and dedicated, kind and welcoming, funny, emotional, and STRONG!

How You Can Help

I can’t do it without your help. Though I’m required to raise at least $1,800 in donations, I plan to raise much more! The first time I did this I raised $2300. This year I'm hitting $3000. I know I can do it with your help. Please be sure to share the name of the loved one you may be donating in honor of...I'll place all of those names on my shirt for all to see as I walk in their honor.

You can make a donation to my fundraising campaign right here on the website by clicking on the pink "Donate Now" button. If you prefer to write a check, just contact me and I'll send you the information and form.

About the Avon Foundation
Since it was founded in 1955, the Avon Foundation has been committed to the mission to improve the lives of women and their families. Now past the half century milestone, the Avon Foundation brings this mission to life through two key areas of focus: breast cancer and domestic violence. From an initial $400 scholarship in 1955, Avon philanthropy has expanded globally and through 2008 exceeded $660 million raised and awarded worldwide. The Avon Breast Cancer Crusade launched in 1992, and Avon breast cancer programs in over 50 countries support advancing access to care and finding a cure for breast cancer, with a focus on the medically underserved.
