I'm in it to end it for my mother, my sister, my daughter, my girlfriends! Thanks for visiting my Avon Walk page. This will be my very first walk and I’m committed!!! It IS a big commitment, one that will require me to spend the next several months training and fundraising. But breast cancer is a big disease, one that still affects far too many people, and I’m determined to do everything I can to help put an end to it. The money I raise will be managed and disbursed by the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade to help provide access to care for those that most need it, fund educational programs, and accelerate research into new treatments and potential cures. I’ll be just one of thousands of people that will walk up to a marathon and a half over a weekend, raising awareness of the cause and educating even more people. |

Team "Pink LemonAid"

A hick-up with our hikes! 4/19
Over the last couple of weeks, at least one member of our team has been out of town, so we plan to resume our Sunday hikes again in 2 weeks. I look forward to it, I want to meet our 2 newest members to Pink Lemon+Aid !!!
I thought my 20 week training plan started today, but was off a week, so i'll be doing 21 weeks instead LOL
Here's what my week looks like:
Monday: Recovery Walk
Tuesday: Brisk 3 miles
Wednesday: Cross Training
Thursday: Moderate 3 miles
Friday: Cross Training
Saturday: Endurance 4 miles
Sunday: Endurance 3 miles
Mondays are always "recovery walks" so today I did my normal thing... 1/2 hour walking Molly and 1/2 hour on the treadmill. I may cross train when I get home...
Each week the distance increases, so by the end of June, the Saturday endurance walk is up to 14 miles and by mid August, its up to 22.
As if the upcoming walk wasn't motivation enough to get training, but we are heading back to Hawaii this summer, Maui this time... gotta get bathing suit ready! This just might work ;)

Kanan Hike "backbone trail"
Sunday the gals of Pink Lemon+Aid got together to do the Backbone Trail off Kanan Hwy.
Its a 5 mile round trip hike that takes about 2 - 2.5 hours. We had beautiful weather, not too hot and a bit overcast.
Spring was in the air, lots of blooming wild flowers and the noises of the creek were great.
I came home a little sunburned and with one too many skeeter bites.
I think for future hikes, I will start taking a day bag. That way I can carry water in it, and take some sunscreen and bug spray. Plus, I should probably take a small first aid bag, after all, we are hiking the canyon, a band aide may come in handy! Plus too we can chuck in the trail book so we know for sure what way to go on the trails LOL
Patty & I took some pics along the way, heres the link:

Intro Meeting tonight & now @ 71% there!
Tonight I'm going to the Introduction meeting tonight in Tarzana. Since this is my first walk, I want to make sure I know all I can.
I'm now at 71% of reaching my minimum goal, with only $515.00 more to go. Thats awesome; theres 200 days left to raise it!
I've printed out the 24 week training program and figured out the dates... I begin "official" training 3/29. But I have been walking already :)
Come back soon for more updates!

Team Name Decided...
Patty, Jess and I met yesterday to figure out our team name and our workout schedules leading up to the 39 mile walk in Sept.
We came up with a few good ones, Healthy Hooters; Boobs Cruis; and Pink LemonAid. All based around terms for boobies.
We decided on Pink LemonAid. Pink for the breast cancer awareness color, lemon for boobies, and aid because we are aiding the cause!
We will each be doing our own excercise routines, and meeting weekly to hike the canyons.
