Help me reach my goal!!!!

My name is Matthew Guillaume. This is my fourth year participating in the Avon walk. If you've come this far, you probably already know that I've committed to participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer that means spending the next few months training and fundraising and then walking for an entire weekend. I'm just one of thousands of people all over the country who will be doing this in 2006, all to raise funds for the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade and support their mission of providing access to care and finding a cure.

In 2004 my Aunt Marie Henley was diagnosed with breast cancer. My Aunt Marie was an Acoma Pueblo Indian. Marie was very proud of her heritage and her beautiful black hair reached almost past her knees. Losing her hair was the hardest thing for her to do but she was determined to fight past the tears and the pain and beat this disease. For a while we thought she was going to make it through and she was even released to go home. Unfortunately, after only being home for two days she took a turn for the worse and was rushed back to the hospital and died two days later.

I walk because there is no one else to walk for her. I am blessed in that I am able to walk and that I have this wonderful event to do so in. Each year I am a minority amongst the thousands of women who walk and this is why I do it. Men who walk , walk because they represent those who can't and those they love! I also walk because there are millions of women also are not able to walk and if I can represent them for only 2 days of my life through pain and sweat, then it's worth it. This is why I walk!!

I'm required to raise a minimum of $1,800 to participate, but I plan to raise much more! To do this, I need your help and the help of many others - to reach my goals, and I'm hoping that I can count on you to be part of my support team.

Also to view pictures from the past two years of walking please feel free to visit my myspace page at www.myspace.com/guammy1979 and go to the photos sections marked Avon Walk!!!

Thank you for your support!!!

About the Avon Foundation
Since it was founded in 1955, the Avon Foundation has been committed to the mission to improve the lives of women and their families. Now past the half century milestone, the Avon Foundation brings this mission to life through two key areas of focus: breast cancer and domestic violence. The Avon Breast Cancer Crusade launched in 1992, and Avon breast cancer programs in over 50 countries support advancing access to care and finding a cure for breast cancer, with a focus on the medically underserved.
